Job description

We are now seeking an enthusiastic and committed Salaried GP to join our dedicated clinical team. You will be supported by an experienced group of GPs, pharmacists, nurses, HCAs, and administrative staff who work closely together to deliver excellent care to our diverse patient population.

Main duties of the job

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, evidence-based care to all registered and temporary patients.
  • Conduct face-to-face, telephone, and online consultations, including diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
  • Manage acute and chronic conditions in line with national and local guidelines.
  • Undertake home visits when clinically appropriate.
  • Participate in care planning and health promotion for patients with long-term conditions.
  • Issue prescriptions safely and appropriately in accordance with practice and NHS policy.
  • Review test results, hospital letters, and correspondence promptly.
  • Ensure accurate and timely clinical record keeping using SystmOne (or the practices clinical system).

Quality and Governance

  • Contribute to the achievement of QOF, Enhanced Services, and other clinical targets.
  • Participate in clinical audits, significant event analyses, and learning reviews.
  • Maintain awareness of safeguarding responsibilities for both adults and children.
  • Adhere to all relevant practice and NHS policies including infection control, confidentiality, and information governance.

Professional Development

  • Engage in appraisals and revalidation as required by the GMC and NHS England.
  • Maintain continued professional development (CPD) and attend mandatory training sessions.
  • Take part in teaching, mentoring, or supervision if applicable.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide general medical services to the practices registered and temporary patients.
  • Undertake a variety of consultations (face-to-face, telephone, and online) for diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic conditions.
  • Prescribe medicines in accordance with clinical guidelines and prescribing protocols.
  • Review and act upon laboratory and radiology results, referrals, and hospital correspondence in a timely manner.
  • Provide appropriate follow-up and continuity of care.
  • Undertake home visits where clinically appropriate.
  • Promote health education, prevention, and self-management of long-term conditions.
  • Maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient records using SystmOne.
  • Adhere to safeguarding policies and take responsibility for identifying and managing risks to vulnerable adults and children.

Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team including nurses, pharmacists, HCAs, and administrative staff.
  • Participate in clinical meetings, case discussions, and multi-disciplinary team (MDT) reviews.
  • Support colleagues during absence and contribute to a positive, supportive team culture.

Quality and Governance

  • Contribute to achieving Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) and Enhanced Services targets.
  • Participate in clinical audits, significant event analyses, and complaints reviews.
  • Promote evidence-based practice and participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to all practice and NHS policies including confidentiality, infection control, and information governance.

Professional Development

  • Maintain professional registration and engage fully in GMC revalidation and annual appraisal.
  • Keep up to date with current clinical and policy developments through CPD.
  • Attend mandatory and practice-based training sessions.
  • Support teaching and mentoring of medical students, trainee GPs, or other staff where appropriate.

Leadership and Service Development

  • Contribute to the development of new services and innovations in primary care delivery.
  • Engage with the local Primary Care Network (PCN) to support integrated care models.
  • Provide leadership for specific clinical areas or lead roles as agreed with the Practice Manager and Partners.
