A leading healthcare organization in Glasgow seeks an Operational Safety Team Leader to supervise safety staff and maintain a secure environment. The position requires solid knowledge of security protocols and systems, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage a busy department. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to balance security with customer care, ensuring safety while providing a supportive atmosphere. This role involves monitoring movement, responding to alarms, and managing access controls.

The Operational Safety Team within the Forensic Directorate, particularly at Rowanbank Clinic, has the responsibility for the safety of all patients, staff and the general public. This will be provided through the provision of a secure and supportive environment which will facilitate the balance between essential security and the creation of a therapeutic milieu. The Operational Safety Team Leader will support the ethos of the service which will be to, where possible, deliver security in a proactive, subtle and unobtrusive manner which enhances and supports this milieu.
The Safety Team Leader must be able to demonstrate understanding of a range of work procedures and practices, some of which are non-routine, and requires a base level of theoretical knowledge normally acquired through formal training or equivalent experience. This includes a working knowledge of security policies and procedures as well as security systems such as x-ray screening machines/metal detection/access card systems/CCTV/panic alarm systems and more.
They will also require to have good communication and interpersonal skills, good analytical and judgement skills, as well as planning and organisational skills such as manpower planning and balancing the demands of a busy department on a shift by shift basis, and have a working knowledge of a PC and relevant systems including Microsoft Outlook.
Handle a large volume of calls and information from various communication systems whilst remaining fully aware of movement within the Clinic.
