About the Role

Education Assets is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a warm, welcoming, and well‑established nursery in the heart of Mapplewell, Barnsley. We are searching for an enthusiastic, confident, and highly motivated Level 3 or above Room Leader who is passionate about delivering outstanding childcare and early education.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practitioner looking to step into leadership— or for an established Room Leader ready for a new challenge within a supportive and forward‑thinking nursery setting. You will play a vital role in creating a nurturing environment where children feel safe, valued, and inspired to learn every single day.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading, supporting, and motivating your room team to deliver engaging, child‑centred activities in line with the EYFS framework.
  • Creating and maintaining a stimulating, inclusive, and safe learning environment where every child can thrive.
  • Taking responsibility for planning, observations, assessments, and next steps for children in your care.
  • Ensuring that safeguarding, health and safety, and welfare requirements are always met and consistently upheld.
  • Communicating confidently and professionally with parents and carers, building positive relationships to support each child’s development and wellbeing.
  • Acting as a role model for best practice, coaching practitioners within your room and contributing to the continuous improvement of the setting.
  • Working collaboratively with senior leaders to maintain high standards across the entire nursery.
About You

We are looking for someone who is genuinely passionate about early years education and who thrives in a fast‑paced, child‑focused environment. The successful candidate will have:

  • A Level 3 Early Years/Childcare qualification or higher.
  • Previous experience as a Room Leader or Senior Nursery Practitioner (or a strong Level 3 Practitioner ready to take the next step).
  • Strong leadership qualities, with the ability to inspire and guide a team.
  • Excellent knowledge of the EYFS and child development.
  • Confidence in planning, assessing, and maintaining high‑quality learning environments.
  • A warm, positive, and caring approach to working with children.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • A genuine commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
  • An Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one prior to starting).
