Job description

Robot Operator

Failsworth – £26,000 rising to £27,000 from April 2026.

Monday‑Friday – Weekly rotating shifts.

I'm recruiting for a Robot Operator to work within a dedicated packing and palletising area at a well‑established manufacturing site in Failsworth, with easy access from the motorway network and local bus routes.

The role

This position is focused on the robot‑assisted packing of finished products, ensuring goods are handled safely, accurately and to a high standard before dispatch.

  • Operating a robotic packing system handling 25kg bags
  • Moving finished product and packaging using a counterbalance FLT
  • Weighing, labelling and identifying pallets correctly
  • Maintaining accurate stock movements using internal systems
  • Ensuring stock rotation and tidy, well‑organised pallet areas
  • Keeping the robot and packing area clean, safe and compliant

You may occasionally support dispatch activity during busy periods or cover, but this is not a dispatch role – the core focus is robot operation.

Shift pattern

Weekly rotating shifts, Monday to Friday:

  • 6:00 am – 2:00 pm
  • 2:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Would need to be flexible to work 7.00 am – 3.00 pm + overtime as and when required. No weekend working.

What you'll need
  • A valid Counterbalance FLT licence (essential)
  • Experience in robot operation or machine operation
  • Confidence working with machinery or automated processes
  • Good attention to detail and a safety‑first mindset
  • Comfortable handling 25kg products as part of a packing process
  • Good numeracy skills

This role would suit a Machine Operative with FLT licence looking to move into a robot‑assisted packing role.

What's on offer
  • £26,000 starting salary, rising to £27,000 from 1st April 2026
  • 25 days holiday, bookable throughout the year with approval (minimum two weeks' notice)
  • 8 bank holidays
  • Monday‑Friday working only
  • Long‑term secure role within a well‑run operation
