Job summary

The RAC is hiring a Roadside Technician to repair and diagnose faults for members, delivering rapid roadside assistance across the UK. You will work largely from your home remit, starting and finishing locally, with shifts around 40 hours per week and optional overtime.

There is a structured development programme, with IMI accreditation potential as you grow your technical capabilities and autonomy in the Patrol division.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years experience.
• Or 5+ years experience as Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK.
• Diagnose faults, solve problems and help members continue their journeys safely.
• Use the latest diagnostic technology to identify faults and get members back on the road quickly.
• You will work independently to diagnose faults and contribute to quicker resolutions.

Skills

2+ years' experience in Light Vehicle

5+ years' experience as Vehicle Tech/1

Full UK driving licence (≤6 points)

Education

NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
