You must be aged 18 or over to be a customer team leader at Co-op, as you\'ll need to authorise age-related sales.

We\'re looking for Customer Team Leaders to join our team at Co-op.

Overview

When you join Co-op, you\'ll get dedicated support to help you grow your career, as well as amazing benefits including 36 days holiday, a pension with up to 10% Co-op contribution, access to virtual healthcare services for you and your family, and a 30% discount on all Co-op products in our stores.

As a Customer Team Leader, you\'ll be part of a friendly team that\'s dedicated to helping our customers. You\'ll help lead the store team — coaching and supervising Customer Team Members and deputising for the Store Manager, while delivering excellent customer service and performing other store tasks such as restocking shelves and cleaning up spillages.

At Co-op, we do things a different way. For over 175 years we\'ve focused on fairness for our members and communities, and as a colleague we promise to take care of you. You\'ll receive support for physical, mental, and financial wellbeing, along with market-leading policies to help you through life events from bereavement and pregnancy loss to fertility treatment and menopause.

What you\'ll do
  • Friendly and thoughtful service — provide friendly, welcoming, easy, helpful and thoughtful service every day, often taking ownership for managing the store and handling challenging situations
  • Develop your team\'s capabilities through coaching and training, fostering an inclusive culture where everyone\'s voice is valued and respected
  • Ensure the store remains safe, legal, and fully operational
  • Manage diligence checks and stock accuracy to make shopping a great experience for customers
  • Support your store manager by deputising when they\'re not working and deliver a variety of HR processes
  • Lead the way when introducing new products and services in your store — work with your team to implement change and encourage open and honest feedback
  • Build relationships and get involved in your local community, supporting your Store Manager with the delivery of the local Co-op community plan
What we\'re looking for
  • A genuine care for the needs of customers and members
  • The ability to balance leading and supporting your team with hands-on work on the shop floor
  • Great people skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with customers and colleagues
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  • A desire to learn, grow and develop leadership skills
  • Flexibility to work a range of different shifts
Why Co-op?
  • Full, paid training and dedicated support for personal development and career progression
  • 30% discount on all Co-op products in-store plus 10% discounts on all other brands
  • A pension scheme with up to 10% employer contributions
  • Wagestream — a money management app giving access to a percentage of your pay as you earn it
  • 36 days of holiday (including bank holidays, pro rata for part-time colleagues)
  • Virtual healthcare services for you and your family, including GP appointments, eye care, mental health support, and nutrition and fitness consultations
  • 24/7 employee assistance service
  • Rota availability three weeks in advance and accessible on your phone
  • Cycle-to-work scheme
