Job summary

Join M&S as a Security Officer, responsible for creating a safe, welcoming and secure environment for customers and colleagues across our Newcastle-area stores. You’ll stay calm under pressure, act professionally and help protect people, stores and products while delivering great service.

You'll be a visible presence, greet customers, use store technology and incident management tools, and work with colleagues to adapt to fast-paced retail days.

Qualifications

• Previous security experience is preferred.
• A valid SIA licence is desirable, although not essential.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A calm, confident and professional approach.
• A proactive mindset with the ability to make sound decisions quickly.
• A genuine passion for customer service and keeping people safe.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, welcoming and secure environment for customers and colleagues.
• Stay calm under pressure, lead with professionalism and deliver great service while protecting stores, people and products.
• Be a visible presence in store, greeting customers and providing professional support.
• Operate in a fast-paced retail environment, staying alert and responsive.
• Help keep stores safe by preventing loss, responding to incidents, identifying risks and supporting safe ways of working.
• Use store technology, including mobile reporting systems and body-worn cameras, to support operations and incident management.
• Stay calm under pressure during challenging situations or emergencies.
• Work closely with store colleagues to maintain high standards and adapt to changing situations.
