Applications are invited for the post of Respiratory Consultant at Dorset County Hospital. This is an exciting time to join the department following expansion in recent years to be lead provider the Dorset Lung Cancer Screening Programme and Dorset Sleep Service.
The department has a lively and friendly team environment to support new ideas, with effective and innovative services for COPD and asthma, lung cancer, ILD, and sleep and is leading the development of new workforce solutions and service delivery models.
A full range of basic and advanced diagnostic tests are available providing a comprehensive pulmonary function laboratory. Aside from spirometry, flow-volume loops, helium dilution lung volumes and carbon monoxide transfer factors, the department can perform whole body plethysmography, methacholine challenge, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, arterial blood gas analysis, LTOT and ambulatory oxygen assessments, hypoxic challenge tests, shunt tests, FeNO, overnight oximetry and multichannel domiciliary sleep study.
Most respiratory inpatients are managed on the 26-bedded Moreton ward. The post will include 2 weeks on and off the ward per 4-week cycle.
