Job summary

A staffing agency for residential care is seeking a caring Residential Support Worker in Staffordshire. About the Role

Optima Plus Recruitment is proudly recruiting on behalf of a valued client for dedicated and compassionate Residential Support Workers to join a newly opening children's home in Staffordshire.

You’ll be supporting children and young people aged 5‑18 in a high‑quality residential setting, helping those who have experienced trauma, emotional and behavioural difficulties, or additional learning needs to build brighter futures. This is a rewarding and varied role, perfect for someone who is caring, resilient, and passionate about making a genuine difference.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain a safe, nurturing, and positive home environment.
  • Provide emotional, practical, and personal support, promoting independence and wellbeing.
  • Support young people in daily routines and community activities, encouraging social and emotional development.
  • Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider team to deliver consistent, trauma‑informed care.
  • Manage and de‑escalate challenging behaviour with empathy and professionalism.
  • Build trusting, supportive relationships to promote confidence and self‑esteem.
  • Demonstrate understanding of Ofsted regulations and quality standards for children’s homes.
What We’re Looking For
  • Minimum NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care with 6+ months UK‑based social care experience (essential).
  • Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (preferred).
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (preferred).
  • Right to work in the UK (essential – no COS available).
  • Caring, honest, and hardworking attitude, with a genuine commitment to improving the lives of young people.
