Job summary

A children’s support organization in England is seeking individuals to provide care for youth aged 8-17 with complex needs. Job description

At Ar Curam we now have our first home in Scotland with an established sister Company in England. We provide care, support and accommodation for children and young people with complex needs, aged between 8‑17 years old, in small residential care homes where we aim to achieve excellent outcomes for the children and young people in our care. We currently have opportunities to join our team on night shift and could also benefit from additional bank workers able to cover night shift.

Applicants must be passionate about effecting long‑term change in the lives of vulnerable children and young people by providing essential support that enables them to reach their full potential.

Responsibilities
  • Safeguard and promote the rights of children and young people
  • Teach life skills and coping strategies
  • Build confidence, self‑esteem and resilience
  • Accompany them to and from education
  • Facilitate family time
  • Create a warm, comforting and homely environment, including all daily household tasks
  • Encourage participation in local activities and hobbies
  • Monitor, record and complete all relevant paperwork accurately
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Good level of IT literacy
  • Motivated, empathetic and understanding, with the ability to build nurturing meaningful relationships with children, parents/carers and other professionals
  • Experience working with children, or transferable skills to communicate effectively and form positive relationships with young people, parent/carers and other professionals
  • Ideally possess an SVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People coupled with an HNC in Social Services (or higher), or an acceptable equivalent line with the SSSC qualification requirements; or the ability and commitment to gain these qualifications whilst in post
  • Registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) and maintain the conditions of registration throughout employment
  • A full driving licence is preferable to undertake the full duties of the role, which includes accompanying young people on outings, meetings or responding to emergency situations appropriately. Applicants without a driving licence will be considered in line with balancing the team’s needs and the Equality Act. Company cars are provided for work duties.
