A leading university in London is looking for a Research Financial Manager to support its Computer Science department. You will manage financial processes related to research funding and grants, working closely with academic staff and other professionals to ensure compliance and efficiency. Significant experience with financial systems and a solid understanding of research environments is required. The role offers 41 days of holiday and various employee benefits.
UCL's Department of Computer Science (CS) is a top-ranked Computer Science Department in the UK. In the 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF) evaluation, UCL Computer Science was ranked first in England. Through education, research and enterprise, we are shaping the future of computer science, and finding new ways we can use it to create positive change.
You will join a busy team working closely with other Professional and Academic colleagues to make significant impact to the growth and success of the Department.
The role is responsible for delivering the Department's research financial management and administration. You will facilitate grant and funding administration, and general management and monitoring of current and proposed research projects.
The role requires a high level of accuracy, financial skill and considerable initiative. The role is largely autonomous within the Department Finance team, but you will also work as part of a wider team of Professional Services colleagues, liaising with senior staff (both within and external to UCL) frequently, and collaborating with academic and research staff.
You will have excellent knowledge of research funding processes and regulations within an HE/research environment, and experience of providing administrative assistance in the preparation of research funding applications.
You must have proven experience of using online financial systems and the ability to adapt to new systems quickly, as well as demonstrating you can meet tight individual and organisational deadlines and manage your own workload through effective prioritising, time management and organisational skills.
