Qualifications

  • 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment as a health and safety practitioner.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate is essential.
  • Excellent computer skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Health & Safety compliance across the South region.
  • Provide leadership to SHEQ Compliance Leads.
  • Conduct periodic compliance auditing.
  • Work closely with site leaders and engineers to ensure safety practices.

Regional Health & Safety Compliance Advisor (South)

Monday to Friday – 37.5 hours/week

What You’ll Be Doing:

Reporting to the National Safety, Health and Environmental Manager, you'll lead Health & Safety compliance across our South region. You'll be the go‑to advisor for all things SHE (Safety, Health & Environment), working closely with site leaders, engineers, and production teams to ensure best‑in‑class safety practices are integrated into daily operations.

  • Being a Safety Leader / Key Influencer /Ambassador.
  • Providing leadership to the SHEQ Compliance Leads.
  • Reviewing policy and implementation group wide.
  • Using Continuous Improvement methodologies to enable effective incident analysis/root cause analysis.
  • Risk profiling/heat mapping to test the strength of our defences.
  • Seek to understand trends in incident occurrence.
  • Attendance of team meetings with the National SHE Manager.
  • Manage and report safety statistics for their areas of responsibility.
  • Provide support to sites when serious incidents occur and play a lead role in the incident investigation.
  • Provide or organise training in specialist health and safety areas.
  • Periodic compliance auditing.
  • Being knowledgeable in a particular subject matter, for example:
    • Confined Spaces
    • PUWER/LOTOTO
    • Hazardous substances/dust
    • Behavioural Safety
    • Environmental
    • Workplace Transport and Pedestrian Movement
    • Working at Height
  • Implement and lead on programmes to manage high‑risk activities.
  • Perform to the requirements of the Marshalls Way Core Behaviours.
  • Encourage a positive safety culture by use of the Marshalls Behavioural Safety people fairly in accordance with the Fair & Just Approach programme.
  • Provide advice on safety improvements and support on Capex projects.
  • Support the occupational health and hygiene requirements for their areas of responsibility.
What You’ll Bring:
  • 5 years’ experience or more as a full‑time health and safety practitioner ideally in a manufacturing environment
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (essential)
  • NEBOSH Diploma (Desirable) or working towards
  • IEMA Foundation or equivalent (Desirable)
  • Excellent computer skills – Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communicator and listener
  • Understanding of safety and environmental legislation
  • Experience of incident investigation and analysis
  • Strong writing skills, experience in policy development desirable
  • Awareness of ISO 14001 Environment Management and ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management
  • Accreditation to a professional body such as IOSH & IEMA (Desirable)
  • Experience of presenting and delivering training programmes.
  • Management of people experience (desirable but not essential).
  • Experience of working with behavioural safety programmes (desirable but not essential).
  • Knowledge of using digital data management systems, i.e. Gensuite (desirable but not essential).
