Overview

Regional Contracting Director (South West and Wales) - We are seeking a Regional Contracting Director to join our Southwest and Wales Leadership team to build and execute the regional growth strategy and help shape the future of Tarmac. This pivotal role will have full leadership and accountability for the regional asphalt surfacing business, delivering budgeted performance and achieving stretch targets. As a key decision maker, you will work in partnership with the Contracting Performance Director to lead and deliver the regional contracting performance, contributing to EBITDA margin growth. You will also deliver key business initiatives and all contracting optimisation project across the region.

Responsibilities

Business Performance

  • Full Profit and Loss accountability for regional Pave business, consistently delivering outstanding results and achievement of stretch targets
  • Building strong customer relationships with local authorities, major contractors and National Highways
  • Achieving excellent Health, Safety and Environmental and Quality performance via active sponsorship and visibly felt leadership, deploying the national HSEQ strategy achieving zero harm
  • Delivering optimisation commitments
  • Work winning to achieve budgeted and stretch targets in identified markets
  • Maximising contract value, creating opportunities for further value and resolving disputes effectively
  • Ensuring cost base is continually at its optimum level (reviewing resource levels and deployment methods aligned to customer portfolio, volumes, spend and contract pipeline)
  • Ensuring internal cash collection targets are achieved, minimising aged debt and managing risk
  • Working with the Regional Leadership team to deliver performance across the full value chain, (asphalt, aggregates and recycled materials)

Strategy

  • Building performance plans aligned to Tarmac s growth ambition
  • Translating strategy to develop and execute the region's short and long-term contracting plan
  • Working with Contracting Directors, Contracting Performance Director, MD Building Products and National Businesses and Director of Circularity to win work
  • Working with colleagues within the wider business to maximise opportunities across the value chain, making decisions to achieve growth beyond regional remit
  • Working with Sustainability, Technical and Circularity teams to develop innovative and sustainable products, process and solutions to deliver carbon reduction roadmaps, achieve business growth and add value to both the customer and Tarmac

Leadership

  • Developing an effective regional contracting team that embraces collaboration across the regions, national businesses and functional teams
  • Building a diverse and inclusive talent pool, developing resilient succession pipelines and organisational capability to future-proof the business at all levels
  • Supporting the Managing Director to develop the regional talent plan, facilitating talent mobility and role modelling a growth mindset

To successfully deliver the role of Regional Contracting Director you will need:
