Regional Commercial Underwriter - East Anglia - (Home & On-Site)

Base Salary to £55K - Plus Company Car - Bonus up to 17.5% & Excellent Pension

Our client is a very well-respected insurance company who have been trading effectively for over 100 years.

This is a newly created role where they are currently seeking experienced and enthusiastic Regional Commercial Underwriter, across the East Anglia regions, which will be a hybrid home working role with regular visits and being onsite in the company’s regional hubs as and when required. There may also be the requirement to go and see the risks you are working on and visiting potential clients.

This is a great company to work for with a great deal of support, however you would have high underwriting licence writing general insurance up to £100K GWP or more, and therefore you’d be expected to be proactive and manage your own workload and be an effective communicator both internally and externally.

Overview of the role and accountabilities

• Negotiate commercial renewal account reviews and connected portfolios using expert knowledge and utilise when required to deliver compelling and market leading propositions to our customer.
• Champion, advise and guide Agents on more complex risks, technical and customer service areas to improve their knowledge and support effective decision making whilst driving an improved understanding, capability and awareness of best practice.
• Analyse and evaluate risk and propose and negotiate policy terms, including appropriate limitations and endorsements, in accordance with Underwriting standards and principles and within limits of authority, to ensure a fair outcome for members aligned with risk appetite and profitability objectives.
• Build and maintain relationships with Claims, Senior Technicians and Agents to ensure the effective delivery of objectives and first-class customer service.

Being a strong team player, you will strive to achieve high quality standards and output, even when challenged and working under pressure. You will be used to always putting the customer first and fully considering their requirements whilst developing lasting relationships.

Experience of Underwriting, have a track record of dealing with relevant, more complex and technical cases and of effectively coaching and guiding peers and colleagues.
