Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint part‑time Receptionists to join the A&E Department at Weston General Hospital.

We are looking for enthusiastic and dynamic candidates who thrive in a busy and supportive working environment. The role of the Receptionist is integral to all that we do.

You must be able to greet patients, be approachable and empathetic to patient needs, while also working effectively under pressure. The role can sometimes be demanding, with telephone calls to answer alongside the needs of patients and other staff. It requires a significant amount of computer work, so high standards of speed and accuracy are essential.

Recruitment details
  • 3 posts at 24 hours per week
  • 1 post at 16 hours per week
Working patterns
  • AM shift: 07:00 – 15:30
  • PM shift: 15:30 – 00:00

The rota operates on a 6‑week rolling basis, ensuring fair distribution of shifts across the team.

Interviews will be held on Tuesday 6th January 2026.

Key responsibilities
  • To provide high quality reception services for the Trust and maintaining the highest standards of service delivery and customer care.
  • Act as a first point of contact assistance to patients, relatives or other members of the public who attend or make contact by phone to the emergency department.
  • To organise their workload in accordance with the demands of the department.
  • To co‑ordinate daily activities to ensure efficiency of service within the organisation.
  • To exercise initiative.
  • To ensure that confidentiality is maintained at all times.
