Position Overview

The Emergency Department at Broomfield Hospital is looking to recruit Receptionists/Administrators to work on the front desk.

This is an opportunity to work in a fast paced environment at the front of patient care, within a busy Emergency Department.

Ideally you will be an enthusiastic, motivated, compassionate and hardworking person to be the face of the Emergency Department and often the first point of contact for patients entering the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Book patients and ambulances into our Lorenzo computer system.
  • Answer the telephone and take down messages accurately.
  • File notes and other documentation.
  • Create patient attendance episodes ensuring all data is entered timely and accurately.
  • Identify/monitor patients in the waiting area who need immediate treatment/assessment and notify nursing staff.
  • Work using your own initiative within departmental protocols.
  • Maintain effective communication with patients and relatives at all times, including times of distress.
Shift Pattern & Working Hours

Flexible working is available to enable our services to provide care seven days a week, 24 hours a day; therefore a shift pattern to cover a 24hr 7 day a week service is required, which will include bank holidays and night shifts.

  • Earlies: 07:00-14:30, 08:00-16:00
  • Lates: 14:30-22:00, 16:00-00:00
  • Nights: 22:00-07:00
