Overview

Are you an experienced Telecoms Contractor's Responsible Engineer (CRE) with a strong background in rail-based operational communications (Opscoms)? This is a design-led position delivering complex telecoms solutions for major rail projects, including HS2 stations and Network Rail frameworks.

Rate: £500 - £560 day inside IR35

Contract length: Long term

Location: London or Swindon, couple of days a week on-site with the rest from home

Role and Responsibilities

This is a design-led position where your technical expertise will be crucial in delivering complex telecoms solutions for major rail projects. You will join a leading force in rail infrastructure, contributing to the UK’s most significant and high-profile projects, and shaping critical communications systems for a new era of transport.

  • As the Telecoms CRE, take on a pivotal hybrid role with a dual focus: overseeing the detailed telecoms design for the HS2 Old Oak Common station project (focusing on FDNX alterations).
  • Provide expert support to a major signalling framework across the Wales and Western region.
  • Lead on detailed design, manage cable design, and interface directly with construction teams to ensure seamless project delivery.

What you’ll need

  • Based in the Midlands or South of England to accommodate occasional site visits.
