Job summary

BAM UK & Ireland is recruiting a Rail Systems Lead Design Manager for the HS2 Track infrastructure project. You will drive systems integration, design governance, and safety-focused coordination across multiple partners to deliver complex rail design work on schedule.

The role is based from project offices in London or Birmingham, with collaboration across the Rail Systems Alliance to resolve interfaces and manage cross-disciplinary delivery.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in rail systems design, integration, and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Experience in contractor-led, design-and-build or alliance delivery environments is desirable.
• Experience managing external design organisations and consultant teams.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate technical interfaces between Track systems, main works contractors, design partners and alliance members.
• Lead and manage spatial coordination of rail systems designs from partners and third parties.
• Coordinate technical assurance activities and ensure designs meet governance requirements.
• Facilitate Health and Safety in Design principles and CDM processes.
• Chair design coordination meetings and monitor progress against client standards and milestones.

Education

Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering

Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership

Membership of ICE, IMechE, IET or equivalent

Excellent stakeholder management and communication

Leadership of multidisciplinary teams
