Job summary

BAM UK & Ireland is seeking a Rail Systems Lead Design Manager to join the HS2 Track infrastructure project at the initial design stage. The role focuses on systems integration, design management, and coordinating interfaces across multiple partners to deliver secure, compliant rail solutions.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage design clashes, and support governance and safety assurance activities throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in rail systems design, integration, and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Experience in contractor-led, design and build or alliance delivery environments.
• Experience within large-scale rail infrastructure programmes.
• Experience managing external design organisations and consultant teams.
• Strong understanding of design management processes within major rail or infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of health and safety in design principles and industry best practice.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate technical interfaces between Track systems, Main Works Contractors, Design Partners and Alliance members.
• Lead spatial coordination of rail systems designs produced by design partners and third parties.
• Chair and facilitate design coordination meetings, workshops and reviews with stakeholders.
• Monitor design progress and ensure alignment with client requirements, standards and milestones.
• Coordinate technical assurance activities related to spatial coordination and integrated design delivery.
• Support CDM processes and production of safety-related deliverables.
