Job Description

We are working with an industry leading manufacture who seeks to appoint an R&D Project Manager. The appointed project manager will be required to lead and co-ordinate major projects for an R&D focused manufacturing business. This R&D Project Manager role will involve co-ordinating some design activity, manufacturing oversight, through to installation and support.

An important aspect of the R&D Project Manager role is in building effective teams across the entire organisation and motivating them to use the appropriate project management tools to deliver projects to agreed targets, budgets and timescales. You will lead be hands-on in day to day activity within your project to help foster a delivery based culture. A "get up and go" mind-set will be key, as will experience working closely with design and development teams.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a large key project
  • Responsible for cost, quality, design and delivery
  • Manage the OE project management resources in a manner that makes best use of skills, expertise and experience
  • Manage the teams and project activities to ensure compliance with quality system and standards
  • Ensure that the NPI processes are followed, keeping deliverables on track and stakeholders updated
  • Ensure that appropriate project management tools are adopted and are used to communicate project plans and progress effectively across the whole organisation and to the customer
  • Build a team of engineers capable of delivering this complex projects
Qualifications
  • A relevant degree qualification in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths (STEM) discipline or a business management subject
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of project management techniques (PRINCE 2 advantageous)
  • Experience of successfully managing cross functional projects within a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams to achieve results
  • A good understanding of R&D and experience building design teams (You will be required to build a team of electronic, electrical and mechanical design engineers)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates the ability to summarise complex issues effectively to people at all levels in the organisation
  • Determination to hit deadlines and overcome barriers. Able to work under pressure and adapt to and organise changing priorities
