Job description

Quantity Surveyors, we are hiring for our Windermere project as part of the AMP8 framework. If you are interested and have the relevant experience and skills get in touch! Reporting to the Senior QS on site, the project QS shall be responsible for delivery all commercial matters within his designated section of the project. This will require working as part of the wider project team, reporting to the Senior QS on the project to assist with monthly reporting and project delivery. Depending on the value of the project, the QS may be responsible for the scheme in it's entirety reporting to the Senior / Managing QS.

Overview

Reporting to the Senior QS on site, the project QS shall be responsible for delivery all commercial matters within his designated section of the project.

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring effective cost management of the project section through regular and accurate forecasting and cost/value reporting.
  • Leading and managing the procurement process to maximise profit and ensure subcontract orders are placed on time and in accordance with the company policy.
  • Monitoring and maximizing cash flow.
  • Supporting, advising, developing and training all members of the site team on commercial matters.
  • Mentoring and developing the surveyors within the specific project team.
  • Ensuring contractual requirements of the project, advising the site team on key requirements and ensuring that all notices and other matters are actioned accordingly to protect the business's contractual position (Main, Sub-Contracts and consultancy agreements).
  • Acting and ensuring others are always acting in the company's best commercial interests.
  • To always act professionally and promote the company's best standards and practices.
  • Monitoring and chasing Main Contract payments.
  • Assisting the Bid team as required.
  • Understanding tender book allowances, risk and scope.
  • Ensuring subcontractors are procured in accordance with the commercial policy.
  • Ensuring that the sub-contractor scope of works is clearly defined and that all appropriate information is contained within the sub-contract documentation.
  • Ensuring that high quality subcontracts are written so that they are inclusive of their responsibilities in terms of quality, programme, health, safety, environmental etc.
  • Ensuring the accurate measurement of the subcontractors works.
  • Reviewing and collating records of subcontractors work and investigating the legitimacy of any account records provided by the subcontractor.
  • Ensuring all contractual notices are issued in accordance with the sub-contract and the Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act 2009 (LDEDC).
  • Ensuring subcontracts appraisals are carried out in a timely fashion and information is shared within the company.
  • Ensuring that subcontract payments made are done on the basis that the work has been carried out in accordance with the contract and to the correct quality.
  • Compiling accurate subcontractor liabilities, accruals, and ensuring these are up to date and considered in the forecast updates.
  • Monitoring and ensuring subcontract attendances are provided in line with the subcontract and that any potential contra-charges are recorded and recovered.
Qualifications

Adequate experience as an Assistant QS/QS.

Desirable: a degree in QS and relevant experience.

Accredited course by RICS, CIOB or ICES, or a degree with numerical or technical; HND subjects include building/construction, urban and land studies, civil engineering and structural engineering.
