Job summary

A leading engineering firm is recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to join the Energy team in Wales. This role offers the opportunity to manage project valuations, procurement schedules, and subcontractor accounts while supporting significant energy infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have a degree or HND, relevant commercial experience, and knowledge of contracts and measurement standards. This position emphasizes risk management and value engineering amidst a drive for innovation in energy solutions.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience within a Commercial role i.e., Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Quantity Surveyor, or similar.
  • Registered with RICS / ICES and working towards chartership.
  • Knowledge of Standard Methods of Measurement.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in internal commercial reporting and reports.
  • Prepare Valuations/Applications for Payment with documentation according to the contract.
  • Control Cost Reports to the Client with compliant documentation.
  • Manage subcontract and material procurement schedules.
  • Administer subcontractor/supplier accounts and payments.
  • Conduct contract administration and change management.

Murphy is recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to work with the Energy team, initially based at Stonecross (WA3 3JD) Jan–June, then onsite 5 days a week at Glaslyn on the Great Grid Upgrade, to reinforce and refurbish parts of the high power network in North Wales.   • Aid in the internal commercial reporting and any other reports which may be required.
  • Prepare Valuations/Applications for Payment with full documentation in accordance with the contract.
  • Control of Cost Reports to the Client with contractually compliant documentation.
  • Preparation and management of subcontract and material procurement schedules.
  • Administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts from the preparation of detailed requisitions, monitoring, and authorisation of subcontract payments through to agreement of final accounts.
  • Undertake the contract administration, including change management and maintain associated registers.
  • Identifying commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change.
  • Use the cost allocation/coding which satisfies both internal and external requirements.
  • Measurement of quantities in accordance with the standard methods of measurement as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of project final accounts.
  • Drafting of subcontracts including professional services.
  • HND/Degree qualification.
  • Proven experience within a Commercial role i.e., Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Quantity Surveyor, or a similar role.
  • Registered with RICS / ICES and working towards chartership.
  • Knowledge of Standard Forms of Contract, NEC preferable together with Standard Methods of Measurement.
