Qualifications

• Apprentice trained with experience in Quality Engineering.
• Familiar with volume manufacturing processes and auditing.
• Experience with IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Co-ordinate investigation of Customer/Supplier complaints.
• Monitor implementation of corrective actions.
• Accountable for line quality issues and resolutions.

Job description

A Senior Quality Engineer is sought by a leading engineering & manufacturing business who have won significant new programmes with automotive OEM customers.

Quality Engineer – Automotive

Salary: £45-48000 + benefits

Location: West Midlands (commutable from Wolverhampton, Walsall, Wednesbury, Dudley, West Bromwich, Aldridge areas)

This is an interesting and varied responsibility to work for a business that designs and manufactures components and assemblies for a wide range of automotive OEM customers, so this role affords the opportunity to work on customer projects from concept through to series production.

Duties:

• Co‑ordinating and controlling investigation of Customer/Supplier complaints to enable a full understanding of the real root cause failure and corrective actions
• Monitoring the implementation and effectiveness of any corrective actions taken to eliminate Supplier or Customer complaints.
• Accountable for all line quality issues – containment, corrective action, risk assessment and problem resolution.
• Continuous monitoring of the manufacturing processes by audits, statistical analysis or any other relevant technique to support continuous improvement.
• Provide guidance to the shop floor staff on Quality Assurance and cost‑saving techniques.

Experience:

• Apprentice trained, HNC or Degree in an engineering or technical discipline
• Ability to liaise with and manage OEM customer and supplier expectations
• Structure problem solving skills – 8D, 5Y, A3, PPS
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing methods and continuous improvement techniques
• Familiar with volume manufacturing processes
• Internal auditor experience – IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 desirable
• Proven ability to use quality tools such as PPAP, Control Plans, MSA and PFMEA.
