Job description
Overview

Due to an increase in work, we're seeking a Quality Engineer to join our leading client in Newcastle to take the lead in supplier engagement and be the bridge between projects and quality.

The business are a leading manufacturer delivering projects for offshore/ subsea projects and are looking for someone to be part of the Quality Engineering Team and will be required to work with Supplier and internal staff to investigate and address NCR's raised.

Interested candidates will ideally be Time Served /Qualified in an engineering discipline with a demonstrable background within Quality Engineering with a broad understanding of manufacturing processes including Fabrication, Machining and Assembly.

Candidates with experience in welding inspection would be advantageous

This position is based on days and available for an immediate start.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct supplier visits inspections to ensure parts and assemblies are carried out to specifications and drawings.
  • Technical review of material certification and traceability, welding/NDT records, dimensional records etc.
  • Review schedule at vendors for expediting purposes and report to Projects.
  • In-house quality inspection and HSE compliance
  • Manage and report internal and external NCR's
  • Create and review project Quality Plans and supplier ITP's
  • Conduct Internal and Supplier Audits
  • Conduct and provide support for internal and external Risk Assessments and Method Statements
Skills & Attributes
  • Time served / Qualified in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Experience as a Quality Engineer within an Engineering/ Manufacturing environment.
  • Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes including Machining, Fabrication and Assembly
  • Weld Inspection qualifications (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of Welding and NDT procedures/processes (ASME/ASTM/AWS/ISO)
  • Internal / External Auditor qualified (preferable)
  • HSE exposure advantageous
  • Strong communication and IT skills
  • Strong report writing and problem-solving skills.
