Quality Assurance Engineer – The Role

The Quality Assurance Engineer supports project teams in producing, coordinating, submitting and sign‑off of quality assurance deliverables. The role ensures robust QA activities that align with the instructed contract, project scope, and risk levels, and it supports teams in meeting time and quality targets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish Inspection and Test Plans and agree them with clients before site works commence.
  • Implement the Project Quality Plan, including ITPS, SAT, and Commissioning Plans, supporting specialists as required.
  • Brief construction and engineering teams on QA requirements such as ITPs, check sheets and red‑line drawings.
  • Monitor project performance against the quality plan, tracking the number of check sheets produced.
  • File QA documentation and liaise with project managers to record non‑compliances.
  • Review red‑line drawings against As‑Built Survey and Construction Design drawings.
  • Maintain accurate records of issued information both upstream and downstream.
  • Review completed ITPs before formal submission.
  • Drive the site engineering team in maintaining the calibration register.
  • Collaborate with the site team and update construction quality evidence in the client’s digital management system.
  • Ensure up‑to‑date quality documentation throughout construction, close‑out, and handover phases.
Assurance & Compliance
  • Work closely with technical authors and suppliers of package equipment for handover files.
  • Establish, implement, coordinate, record and ensure compliance of site quality documentation with company procedures and contract requirements.
  • Promote proactive reporting of non‑conformances and effective follow‑up.
  • Assist project and site teams in implementing the project’s quality systems.
  • Maintain and monitor documented evidence to ensure visibility and traceability.
  • Offer quality guidance and instruction to the operational team to improve QMS application.
  • Support compliance with ISO 9001 standards and all relevant contract requirements.
Planning & Coordination
  • Attend weekly look‑ahead meetings to understand site progress and plan quality evidence needs.
  • Work with the project team to achieve progressive assurance throughout construction, commissioning, and handover.
  • Compile commissioning and handover documentation in line with project, utility company and contractual requirements.
  • Maintain accurate progress records during all project stages and provide visibility of progressive assurance.
  • Gather information and feedback from project teams to support continuous improvement.
  • Promote a positive quality culture and champion the “Quality – Right First Time” initiative.
About You – Essential
  • Previous experience in a similar QA role.
  • Demonstrated ability to embed service improvements.
  • Strong interpersonal, organisational, communication and time‑management skills with a strategic and analytical mindset.
  • Confident presenter of data insights verbally and in visual formats.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Good social media skills and ability to develop and update varied platforms.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship‑management skills.
Desirable
  • Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering.
  • Experience implementing Quality Control processes.
