Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist with clinical governance processes and monitor compliance.

  • Ensure compliance with clinical quality standards and KPIs.
  • Review practices incorporating best practice models.
  • Report serious patient safety incidents appropriately.
  • Investigate patient safety incidents and produce reports.
  • Involve patients and families in incident investigations.
  • Share lessons learned from incidents.
  • Facilitate weekly incident reviews and meetings.
  • Assist in managing audits for timely completion.
  • Support preparation for safety and quality committee meetings.

Job summary

Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital is seeking a dedicated Quality & Governance Specialist to join our Governance team on a permanent basis (30 hours a week). This role works across a wide range of clinical and non‑clinical departments, collaborating closely with consultants and multidisciplinary teams to drive continuous improvement in patient safety and care quality.

Job responsibilities
  • Assist with the coordination of all clinical governance processes within the hospital and monitor compliance with relevant clinical standards.
  • Under the direction of the Clinical Governance Manager, provide guidance and support on clinical governance processes across the hospital.
  • Assist in ensuring full compliance with all relevant clinical quality standards and Clinical KPIs.
  • Review existing practices, incorporating best‑practice models, policies, procedures and legislation into hospital plans.
  • Report serious patient safety incidents to the Spire Clinical Governance team, CQC, ICB, police, safeguarding board as appropriate.
  • Investigate patient safety incidents on Datix and produce appropriate reports (KSI, PSIR, local review, etc.) following investigation.
  • Involve the patient and family members in incident investigations.
  • Share and embed lessons learned from incidents.
  • Facilitate or chair the weekly incident review and KSI meeting.
  • Facilitate SWARM huddles and AAR (After Action Review) meetings.
  • Assist in managing audits on the AMaT audit system to ensure audits and audit actions are completed in a timely manner.
  • Assist the Quality and Governance Manager in preparing for the Hospital Safety, Quality and Risk Committee meetings.
  • Assist the Quality and Governance Manager in preparation for PSQR and CQC inspections.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Professional registration with NMC or HCPC.
  • Recent experience within a healthcare setting with an awareness of a clinical governance agenda.
