Are you a dynamic, qualified QTS Teacher with a passion for digital learning and a commitment to supporting the most vulnerable young people?
We are seeking an innovative and entrepreneurial teacher to join our Alternative Provision (AP) in Accrington to take on the exciting and crucial role of setting up and leading our new Virtual School provision. This unique position requires an educational pioneer who can design, deliver, and manage online learning pathways for students who cannot access the physical school environment due to complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This role is not just teaching; it's about establishing a complete, high-quality, and tailored online educational platform.
System Setup and Design: Lead the selection, configuration, and implementation of the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and necessary online tools to deliver a secure and engaging education.
Curriculum Development: Design and populate a flexible, engaging, and standards-compliant virtual curriculum across key subjects (KS3/KS4), ensuring it meets the specific needs of students who are learning remotely.
Targeted Teaching: Deliver live and recorded virtual lessons to a small cohort of vulnerable students, ensuring high levels of engagement, attendance, and progress tracking.
Engagement and Safeguarding: Establish clear protocols for student well-being and safeguarding within the virtual environment, proactively monitoring participation and addressing barriers to engagement.
Resource Management: Manage resources, technology, and liaise with staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure the seamless operation of the virtual school.
The ideal candidate will have a blend of teaching excellence and technical/strategic skills:
Essential: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is mandatory.
Experience: Proven, successful experience teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4.
Innovation: A demonstrable interest in, or experience of, online learning, blended learning, or virtual tutoring/teaching.
Strategic Thinking: The ability to plan, implement, and lead a project from conception to successful delivery.
Resilience and Empathy: A strong commitment to the principles of Alternative Provision and an understanding of the impact of SEMH and trauma on a child's ability to learn.
Technical Proficiency: High level of competence with educational technology and VLE platforms (e.g., Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, etc.).
