QA Engineer

Location: Leeds

We are looking for a passionate Backend QA Engineer who will bring new ideas, energy, and a proactive mentality to help set the standard for QA both within the team and across the wider group. You will join a high‑performing team of 5 Developers and 1 QA (this role). You’ll help shape the evolution of gbp into a world‑class platform ensuring quality and stability across our fast‑paced multi‑brand environment. You’ll work closely with engineers, product teams and stakeholders across multiple locations to deliver reliable, high‑quality backend services.

The Global Betting Platform (gbp) is Flutter’s flagship proprietary platform powering sports betting features at scale. It supports multiple brands across the group, generates 33% of total Sportsbook online revenue and serves over 1.7 million active users.

In Flutter COO we work with experts across Flutter to build, deploy and communicate the Flutter Edge. Together we cover Product & Payments, Technology, Sportsbook Product & Trading, People Property, Corporate Communications and Strategic Partnerships & Transformation.

What you’ll do
  • Design, develop and implement both manual and automated tests
  • Ensure product requirements are testable and validated
  • Provide insights into product quality and improvements to QA processes
  • Support and collaborate with developers on quality‑focused practices
  • Contribute across the full development lifecycle
  • Offer creative and pragmatic solutions to testing challenges
What you’ll need

Technical Skills:

  • Proven QA experience in complex backend systems
  • Strong automation and manual testing expertise
  • Solid understanding of service‑oriented architectures and APIs (REST)
  • Experience with Java or similar languages
  • Familiarity with test‑driven development (e.g. BDD, ATDD)
  • Experience with Git and CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
  • Experience with build/config tools (e.g. CHEF) is a plus
