Job description

Role - Public Cloud - Financial Analyst
Duration - 6 Months Rolling Contract
Location - Canary Wharf, London, UK

Job Purpose and primary objectives:
To support the bank's move to a multi-cloud provider environment, we require a financial data analyst to assist in optimizing the Bank's cloud expenditure. This includes analysis on expenditure with public cloud providers such as Microsoft Azure, AWS (Client Web Services) and GCP (Google Cloud Platform), as well as the Bank's own private cloud.

Key responsibilities ::

  • The successful candidate will be expected to perform deep-dive analysis into the Bank's cloud expenditure (current and future), identify areas for cost optimization, provide recommendations to achieve that and influence a broad stakeholder base as to the most optimal ways of managing our cloud resources from a financial standpoint.
  • The candidate will also be required to prepare financial information on a periodic basis (e.g. monthly, quarterly and annually) to support forecasts / budgets and provide analysis substantiated by key expenditure drivers. This includes continual improvement of the forecasting methodology based on actual expenditure.
  • The candidate will be expected to work closely with other finance and strategy teams to understand the key drivers from then and strategies of our business units.
Key Skills/Knowledge:
  • Have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of a cloud service provider's (CSP) billing methodologies and pricing options.
  • Strong data analytical skills to independently analyse the granular expenditure data provided from those CSP's.
  • Strong stakeholder management to deliver cross-functional efficiency projects.
  • Previous experience in contributing to the development / onboarding of tools for forecasting, analytics and dashboarding.
  • Working knowledge of data visualisation tools.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in an analytical role.
  • Ability to communicate complex analysis in a simple way.
  • Demonstrable problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience in efficiently designing and maintaining complex models
