Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a Protection & Control Engineer within the UK Energy business to join a multidisciplinary team delivering power transmission projects for Net Zero. You’ll contribute to design work for over 300km of overhead lines and work in a globally connected firm with diverse colleagues.

You will develop and apply protection and control solutions, using AutoCAD and ETAP, while collaborating with project teams, engineers and managers to meet schedule and quality objectives.

Qualifications

• Experience in protection and control design for electrical networks.
• Ability to interpret technical design documentation.
• Familiarity with substation control equipment (ABB/Hitachi/Siemens/GE).

Responsibilities

• Design protection and control systems for electrical transmission networks.
• Develop drawings, specifications and design docs using AutoCAD and ETAP.
• Perform technical calculations to ensure reliability of protection systems.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety and environmental guidelines.
• Conduct site surveys and data collection for design purposes.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers and construction teams.
• Review design changes and provide support during installation and commissioning.
• Conduct design reviews and QA checks.
