Job summary

WSP UK & Ireland is seeking a Protection & Control Engineer within the UK Energy team. You will deliver protection and control designs for power transmission infrastructure, developing drawings and documentation with AutoCAD and ETAP while ensuring reliability and compliance.

Qualifications

HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent minimum.
Design experience for protection and control schemes.
Knowledge of electrical networks and relevant standards.
Interpretation of technical documentation related to design.
Familiarity with substation control equipment products (ABB/Hitachi/Siemens/GE).
Experience with IEC 61850 and IEC 60870 protocols.

Responsibilities

Design protection and control systems for transmission networks.
Create detailed engineering drawings and specs using AutoCAD and ETAP.
Perform technical calculations to ensure reliability of protection systems.
Ensure designs comply with standards, safety regulations and environment guidelines.
Conduct site surveys to inform design work.
Collaborate with project managers and other engineers to integrate requirements.
Review design modifications and provide technical support during install/commissioning.
Carry out design reviews and QA checks for accuracy.
