Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking an Associate Protection & Control Engineer to lead the design and delivery of protection and control solutions for UK energy transmission projects. You will provide technical leadership, manage multidisciplinary teams and support design assurance activities from concept to commissioning.

The role requires experience in protection schemes, BP141/CDAE processes, and the ability to mentor engineers while collaborating with clients and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Extensive experience in protection and control schemes for transmission and distribution.
• Knowledge of protection philosophies and electrical networks.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex projects.
• Experience reviewing design deliverables and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with BP141 and CDAE processes and client governance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of protection and control solutions for transmission and distribution projects.
• Provide technical direction and assurance across multidisciplinary teams.
• Undertake BP141 and CDAE activities, ensuring compliance with standards.
• Mentor engineers and support succession planning within the discipline.
• Engage with clients, participate in design reviews and project governance.
• Support business growth through recruitment and technical development.
