A leading cancer care provider in Cardiff is seeking a Project Support Officer to assist in managing projects for the Velindre Cancer Centre. The ideal candidate will have strong organisational and communication skills, a degree or equivalent experience, and knowledge of project control functions such as PRINCE 2. This full-time, fixed-term role lasts for 19 months with potential extension. The salary ranges from £31,516 to £38,364 per annum.
Velindre Cancer Centre is a division of the Trust, and one of the leading non-surgical oncology centres in the United Kingdom. The challenge is to go further and achieve the quality of services, patient experience and clinical outcomes that are comparable with the best in Europe and the western world. In support of this ambition, the Trust has facilitated the Transforming Cancer Services Programme, which sets out a compelling vision for excellence in South East Wales. Working closely with Welsh Government and Local Health Boards, the programme will consist of a number of projects which include the development of a new cancer centre (nVCC) in Cardiff, a Radiotherapy Satellite Centre in Abergavenny and the reconfiguration of outreach services.
The post holder will work in the nVCC Project as part of the Controls Team, supporting the Principal Project Manager in delivering the workstream objectives and dependency link wider TCS Programme to deliver a new hospital in 2027. The post requires an individual who has excellent organisational and communication skills. Experience of working in healthcare setting is desirable but not essential.
This post is fixed term/secondment for 19 months due to funding. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.
The role is offered as a 19 month secondment or fixed term appointment which could be extended depending on Welsh Government Funding. The successful applicant will need to establish credibility with a wide range of stakeholders and have the required knowledge and performance skills to fulfil the duties and responsibilities outlined within the Job Description.
