Project Engineer – Allington

Salary: £44,041 - £66,000 per annum (plus Company Car / Car Allowance)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Location: Allington, Kent, ME16 0LE

As a Project Engineer at FCC Environment, you’ll play a vital role in delivering equipment and process upgrades, supporting plant maintenance strategies, and driving operational excellence at our Allington Energy from Waste (EfW) facility. You’ll lead the development, planning, installation, and commissioning of projects that increase plant reliability and performance.

This vacancy is for a full‑time position, working five days per week.

What will you be doing?
  • Deliver capital projects from concept through to commissioning
  • Manage contractors and oversee project safety and performance
  • Support plant outages, including planning and execution of work
  • Develop the site’s Maintenance Management System
  • Enhance maintenance strategies to improve plant availability
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental legislation
  • Mentor and support maintenance technicians and apprentices
  • Drive improvements through root cause analysis and process development
What are we looking for?
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in Energy from Waste, Power, or similar heavy industries
  • Strong project management skills, ideally with MS Project experience
  • In‑depth knowledge of steam turbines, generators, pressure systems and NDT
  • Experience with Maintenance Management Systems and statutory inspections
  • A degree‑level qualification (or extensive equivalent experience)
  • IOSH or NEBOSH safety accreditation
  • Excellent organisational, planning and communication skills
  • A team‑oriented approach, with the ability to deputise for senior team leaders when required
