Project Engineer - Birmingham

£60,000 - £75,000 per annum (negotiable to go higher). Vehicle allowance provided. Profit share scheme.

Overview

Our client is an employee‑owned high‑voltage electrical engineering company specialising in electrical power infrastructure, grid connections and renewable energy generation. With a successful pipeline of work into 2027 and beyond, this role offers the opportunity to advance your career with training provided.

Responsibilities
  • Lead effective project management and delivery for a diverse range of high‑voltage electrical projects, liaising with clients, consultants and their representatives.
  • Produce construction programmes, manage activities to meet schedules and attend site progress, coordination meetings and conduct inspections/audits to monitor quality and progress.
  • Manage commercial aspects, budgets and forecasting for financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, produce risk assessments, method statements and conduct safety audits.
  • Manage resources internally and externally to achieve project goals and meet customer expectations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, supply‑chain partners, suppliers and manufacturers, obtaining competitive tenders and attending factory acceptance tests when required.
  • Interface with network operators and third‑party engineers during commissioning.
  • Provide proactive support and guidance to all parties on statutory requirements and company standards.
  • Maintain a professional image, contribute to the company's success, and continually improve services and efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2–3 years’ relevant experience in electrical engineering within electrical contracting or utility industries.
  • Experience managing projects in a similar industry.
  • Strong organisational, time‑management and IT (MS Office) skills with excellent written and spoken English.
  • Degree, HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering (or working towards an HND).
  • Ability to communicate and influence at all levels, work effectively under pressure and prioritise workload.
  • Strong grasp of statutory processes, technical and commercial information, negotiation and teamwork.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the UK with occasional overnight stays.
