Job summary

A prominent recruitment agency is seeking a Project Engineer to support defense developments in Motherwell. This contract role lasts for 6 months, with a potential extension of up to 23 months. Responsibilities include leading software development activities, engaging in a multi-disciplined team, and ensuring high standards. The ideal candidate has a background in Instrumentation and Control Engineering and knowledge of PLC programming, SCADA, and DCS systems. The position requires onsite work initially, transitioning to a hybrid model.

Job description

Morson Talent are currently recruiting for a Project Engineer to work on the behalf of one of our prestigious clients based in Motherwell. This is a contract role for 6 months, with possibility of extension of up to 23 months.

Responsibilities:
- Working to recognised industry standards to produce innovative, high quality software products for UK's leading defence developments
- Working within a multi-disciplined team, utilising a variety of tools and programming languages, engaging in all aspects of the software development cycle
- Taking responsibility for your own and others work as well as providing technical assistance to support the development of junior members of the team
- Leading during assurance and review activities ensuring that all required configuration, release and documentation activities have been produced in accordance with the relevant standards
- Translate requirements into software designs, implement and test solutions, and manage integration, configuration, release, and deployment of the product.
Experience:
- Background in Instrumentation and Control Engineering, or related subject
- Experience with or knowledge of traditional PLC programming
- Experience or knowledge in SCADA systems
- Experience or knowledge of Distributed Control Systems (DCS).

Working Hours: 7.5 hours per day, 37.5 hours per week

Duration: 6 months but likely to be extended up to 23 months with the needs of the business

Working Pattern:
o First 3 months - fully onsite
o After 3 months - 1 week onsite, 3 weeks WFH (subject to change as required by business)
