Project Accountant
Location: Hybrid – Oxford
Salary: £56,000 – £62,000 per annum

With a large operational footprint and extensive change programmes underway, they are seeking a commercially astute accountant to support their ongoing transformation. They believe in open communication and transparency, building trust and fostering strong relationships with employees and stakeholders alike.

Responsibilities

As Project Accountant, you will take full responsibility for the financial management of a broad portfolio of change and capital projects, providing strategic financial support to senior stakeholders. You will act as the financial lead within cross-functional teams, ensuring projects remain aligned with financial objectives and compliance standards.

  • Partnering with Project Managers to embed finance into project delivery, offering guidance on budgets, forecasting and performance
  • Challenging financial assumptions and supporting corrective actions to keep projects within scope and budget
  • Developing robust business cases and ensuring accurate representation of financial risks and benefits
  • Overseeing capital policy, budgeting, reporting and long-term financial planning
  • Acting as financial lead for procurement activity and contract evaluation within project streams
  • Leading financial discussions at governance boards and providing assurance to senior stakeholders
  • Managing a project portfolio of up to 50 initiatives, valued at approximately £30m
About the Successful Applicant

You will be a CCAB-qualified accountant with strong experience in project and capital accounting. You’ll bring excellent business partnering skills, particularly in influencing senior stakeholders and providing clear, commercially driven financial insight. Strong Excel and systems knowledge is essential, as is the ability to communicate complex financial information with clarity and impact.
