Job description

We are looking for a Programme Support Officer to join the Children and Young People (CYP) Team within Birmingham City Council's Public Health Division. This role supports the delivery of evidence-based public health initiatives aimed at improving health outcomes for children and young people across Birmingham. You will work closely with the Programme Officer, Senior Officer, and wider Public Health team to deliver projects within Birmingham's Healthy Start, Child Weight Management, and Healthy Child Programme. This is an excellent opportunity to develop subject matter knowledge and technical expertise within the Public Health model, while contributing to reducing health inequalities and improving wellbeing for children and families. The role includes supporting the planning and organisation of events, meetings, and workshops, preparing reports and presentations based on data analysis, and contributing to continuous improvement in performance, cost efficiency, and quality. You will also play an active role in stakeholder engagement and partnership working across sectors to ensure successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Experience in planning and delivering events and workshops.
  • Knowledge or interest in public health priorities and policy affecting children and young people.
