Production Operative

Location: Newcastle, UK
Contract: Permanent
Reports to: Production Supervisor / Shift Lead
DBS required before start

About the Role

We're looking for a reliable, safety‑minded Production Operative to join a busy manufacturing team producing industrial adhesives and related products. You'll operate mixing, filling, and packaging equipment, carry out in‑process quality checks, and help keep production running smoothly and safely to meet daily output targets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate mixers, reactors, dispensers, and filling/packaging lines (manual and semi‑automatic).
  • Accurately weigh and batch raw materials following work instructions and batch records.
  • Set up, clean, and change over equipment to standard within target times.
  • Perform in‑process checks (viscosity, appearance, weight, labels, seals) and record results.
  • Follow SOPs, GMP, and site quality policies; elevate non‑conformances promptly.
  • Complete batch documentation and traceability records to an audit‑ready standard.
  • Handle chemicals safely (including PPE, COSHH awareness, spill procedures).
  • Maintain a clean, orderly work area (5S) and contribute to safe systems of work.
  • Report hazards, incidents, and near‑misses; participate in toolbox talks.
  • Identify inefficiencies and support Kaizen activities and OEE improvements.
  • Assist maintenance with basic checks and first‑line fault finding.
  • Work effectively with production, quality, and warehouse teams.
  • Support training of colleagues and cover adjacent tasks when needed.
