Production Manager - Food Manufacturing

Location: Stockport

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 (DOE)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:50 - 16:45

Contract: Full-time, On-site

About the Company

Our client is a well‑established and highly respected manufacturer of premium local food ingredients due to locate from Middleton to Stockport in January 2026, supplying a wide range of products to the UK market. Known for their commitment to quality and innovation, they are seeking an experienced Production Manager to join their team and lead day‑to‑day operations at their Stockport facility.

The Role

As Production Manager , you will take full responsibility for managing the day shift production team of up to 40 employees . This is a hands‑on leadership role requiring strong organisational skills and the ability to maintain high standards of efficiency, safety, and quality across all production areas.

You will work closely with internal teams and external partners, including daily liaison with Daniel Gale at Time Recruitment , to coordinate agency staff and permanent employees. The successful candidate will ensure smooth workflow, optimise resources, and uphold compliance with food safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage day‑to‑day production operations for the day shift.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of up to 40 staff, ensuring productivity and engagement.
  • Coordinate staffing in key areas, including agency and permanent employees.
  • Maintain strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards.
  • Monitor production schedules and ensure timely delivery of products.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Liaise with senior management regarding performance, KPIs, and operational challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and company policies.
  • Act as the main point of contact for agency staff coordination and workforce planning.
Ideal Candidate
  • Proven experience as a Production Manager or similar role within food manufacturing.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with a hands‑on approach.
  • Excellent organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP, BRC) and health & safety regulations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet production targets.
