Morson Edge are recruiting a number of skilled Production Fitters to work on an initial 6-month contract with our client Marshall Land Systems ((url removed)/) at their site in Cambridge (postcode is CB5 8RX). The role plays a pivotal part in high-profile military projects, dealing with the production of both vehicles and containers, and your ideas and contribution will be valued in a business where people really matter.

Rates:

• PAYE: £18.12 per hour (carries £2.82's worth of holiday pay on top of every hour worked so total hourly pay is £20.94 per hour)
• Overtime (after 37 hours & Saturdays) £27.18 per hour, Sundays £36.24 per hour
• UMBRELLA pays £24.93 per hour
• Overtime (after 37 hours & Saturdays) £37.39/hour, Sundays £49.85/hour

Purpose of the Role:

The role is responsible for carrying out routine assembly and installation tasks in line with defined work instructions, task sheets, and standard operating procedures. The role supports the delivery of safe, timely, and compliant production output through accurate workmanship, effective teamwork, and adherence to quality and health & safety requirements. This role operates under direct supervision and is focused on repeatable, clearly defined tasks within the production environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Complete assigned assembly and installation tasks accurately and within allocated timescales.
• Follow work instructions, task sheets, and production processes consistently.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work area at all times.
• Support Production Managers, Supervisors, and Team Leaders by delivering reliable output.
• Accurately complete required production records and timesheets.
• Escalate issues that may impact safety, quality, or delivery.
• Carry out routine manufacturing and assembly tasks to meet production requirements.
• Assemble furniture, small components, and sub-assemblies using standard tools and equipment.
• Fit labels, identification marks, and finishing components as instructed.
• Carry out cleaning, tidying, and finishing tasks at the end of the production line.
• Ensure tasks are completed within allocated time and report delays or issues promptly.
• Follow defined production processes and standard operating procedures at all times.
• Work in line with company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain good housekeeping standards within the work area.
• Identify and report equipment, tooling, or material issues to the Team Leader.
• Work effectively as part of a team and follow direction from supervisors and team leaders.
• Complete all required production documentation accurately and on time.

Technical Skills & Competencies:

• Basic experience in manufacturing, assembly, furniture assembly, or a similar production environment.
• Ability to work accurately to instructions, task sheets, and standard procedures.
• Good manual dexterity and attention to detail.
• Basic understanding of production processes and quality requirements.Awareness of workshop or factory health and safety practices.
• Ability to use standard hand tools safely and effectively.

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential:

• Basic experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment, or willingness to be trained.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.

Desirable:

• Previous experience in furniture assembly or light manufacturing.
• NVQ Level 1-2 or equivalent in a practical or engineering-related discipline.

Additional Requirements:

• Flexibility to support production demands and undertake a variety of routine tasks.
• Willingness to undertake training to develop skills and capability.
• Ability to work safely within an industrial environment.
