A manufacturing leader in the UK is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to oversee the development of machining shop strategies and CNC processes. The role demands strong leadership skills and knowledge in CNC machining, tooling, and Lean Manufacturing principles. Responsibilities include optimizing operations, supporting new product introductions, and improving machining processes through team engagement and KPI monitoring. Development of machine shop support strategy, investments, oversee preparation of cap‑ex proposals to ensure the plant efficiency safety, optimisation, efficiently through flexible processes, methods, equipment and outsourced processes.
Ensure consistent programming standards for multi axis CNC machining centres to ensure flexibility and machine optimisation.
Support new product introduction with process validation, capability studies and preventive maintenance.
Oversee the design and improvement of machining processes for CNC milling, turning, grinding operations and provision and maintenance of associated work instructions in support of these.
Implement tooling strategies and fixture designs to maximize flexibility, efficiency and accuracy.
Lead / participate in Kaizen events focused on improving customer service, efficiency and reducing downtime. Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to machining operations.
Monitor and report on KPIs performance, efficiency savings, OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), scrap rates, and cycle times.
Prepare reports for senior management on process performance and improvement initiatives.
Provide advice and training on machining best practices and safety protocols.
