Job description

Based in the heart of Leamington Spa, Pixel Toys have spent almost a decade pushing the capabilities of mobile gaming. We have developed multiple award-winning titles, including: Warhammer 40,000: Freeblade, Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realm War; and we’re now excited to be exclusively working on a new game, unlike ANYTHING we’ve done previously!

As a forward thinking and innovative studio we are always looking for new technologies and techniques to develop and use in our games and make them even more engaging experiences for our customers.

We are excited to continue to grow our team and are always on the lookout for highly talented and motivated individuals, who are passionate about gaming and excited to join us on our ambitious journey!

The Role:

Join us at Pixel Toys as a Production Director and take responsibility for overseeing the entire production process for our latest ambitious, large-scale game development project. Reporting directly to the VP of Development, you will focus on optimising our operational workflows, effectively managing capacity and resource allocation, actively contributing to and maintaining the overall project roadmap, and ensuring complete alignment between our development teams and overarching strategic project goals.

A core part of your mission will be Process Optimisation and Standardisation, where you will identify and implement targeted improvements that lead to consistent operational excellence across the studio and all sub-teams, ensuring smooth and predictable development cycles.

In terms of Strategic Roadmap Contribution and Management, you will ensure that the detailed, executional project management details for feature and content development are accurately and clearly rolled up into high-level roadmap items and timelines. You will serve as a key point of contact for high-level project updates and strategic discussions, effectively linking team progress to executive strategy.

On top of this, you will manage Strategic Reporting and Documentation by overseeing the entire QA operation and partnering with the Production Team to consistently review and maintain all high-level project documentation, including project plans, roadmaps, and status reports. Furthermore, you will provide high-level oversight while simultaneously fostering an environment where team leads are empowered to manage the day-to-day sprint details within their respective teams. Finally, you will work closely with the Production Team on Capacity and Resource Management to ensure proper planning is in place, thus avoiding both the overloading and underutilising of our amazing team, to maintain optimal productivity and balance.

About you:

You will join us as a Production Director with a proven track record of successfully managing complex, large-scale projects involving multiple teams, underpinned by a strong, practical understanding of modern Agile methodologies.

Furthermore, you will be an exceptional leader, a strategic thinker and have a keen focus on achieving operational excellence, along with the ability to delegate effectively and empower team leads while meticulously maintaining overall project visibility.

Bringing extensive experience in Project Management within the game development industry, you are comfortable and confident working on large-scale, service-based projects across both the critical pre-launch and sustained live-operation phases.

Able to demonstrate a robust understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies, as well as having experience in implementing these frameworks effectively across various sub-teams, you are able to demonstrate your ability where you have strategically contributed to, and managed project planning at an executive level.

While not mandatory, strong Production Analytics experience specifically in quantifying and measuring the impact of production improvements would be highly beneficial to your success in this role, along with formal Agile or Scrum certifications and previous experience overseeing comprehensive QA operations.
