Procurement & Supply Chain Excellence Manager – sustainability, risk and best practice

My clients, a leading technology‑driven business, are currently recruiting for a Procurement & Supply Chain Excellence Manager focused on sustainability, risk, and best practice. The role is permanent and based in Whiteley, with hybrid working arrangements (2–3 days in the office per week).

Location: Whiteley – hybrid working (2–3 days onsite per week)

Salary: £68,000‑£90,000 + leading benefits package

The key focus of this role is to develop the strategy for supply chain sustainability and to lead Sourcing Managers and supplier organisations in the material reduction of carbon emissions within the business supply chain. It also involves developing and implementing the strategy for managing supply chain risk, ensuring proactive mitigation across the end‑to‑end supply network, and continually reviewing and enhancing Supply Chain governance, policies, and processes through the application of industry best practice.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of the supply chain sustainability strategy, covering all aspects of ESG and with a primary focus on measuring and reducing emissions from Purchased Goods and Services.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the end‑to‑end supply chain risk management framework, ensuring existing and emerging risks are identified, documented, actively managed and mitigated, with a strong focus on resilience to supply chain disruption.
  • Manage the coordination of end‑to‑end supply chain audit activity (including the use of external auditors) across both internal teams and supplier organisations, ensuring activity is consistent, efficient and minimally disruptive.
  • Develop and maintain an effective external network to identify relevant supply chain best practices and proactively use these insights to enhance internal governance, processes and tools.
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships at all levels internally and externally, to provide support and guidance, champion supply chain risk management and promote best practice to optimise overall supply chain performance.
  • Lead or actively support supply chain improvement projects and initiatives as required.

  • Extensive experience in supply chain sustainability.
  • Extensive experience in risk management.
  • Extensive experience in process definition and process improvement.
  • Membership of a relevant professional Supply Chain body (e.g. CIPS) is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, including project management.
  • Eligibility to gain UK Security Clearance (SC Level).
