Job description

Location: hybrid, based at one of our UK offices: London, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Leeds, or Newcastle.

The role

As our first lead Procurement professional, you will be responsible for designing and implementing a pragmatic procurement approach across our global operations in support of the firm’s continued growth and ambition. You will combine hands‑on sourcing activity with developing light‑touch processes that improve cost control, compliance, and supplier management. This role will have exposure to senior leadership and is expected to deliver measurable financial impact rapidly, particularly in our largest indirect spend areas.

Responsibilities
  • Spend visibility & analysis: Build a clear picture of current and ongoing supplier spend to identify priority categories and track progress.
  • Sourcing & negotiations: Lead sourcing activity in high‑value and high‑impact categories as we agree.
  • Supplier management: Introduce preferred supplier arrangements, consolidate fragmented spend, and establish supplier performance management.
  • Policy & governance: Develop and implement simple procurement policies and processes (e.g. spend thresholds, competitive tendering requirements) whilst remaining agile and without unnecessary bureaucracy.
  • Contract management: Support the business, working with our Legal Team, in reviewing and negotiating supplier contracts, ensuring best value and risk mitigation.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Build relationships with budget holders and provide commercial challenge while enabling the business to succeed.
  • Reporting & savings delivery: Track and report savings, compliance, and procurement initiatives to the CFO.
Skills and Experience
Basic requirements
  • Proven procurement experience (7 + years) with broad exposure to indirect categories.
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering savings and introducing pragmatic procurement discipline in organisations with low prior maturity.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and EQ, with the confidence to engage stakeholders and colleagues at all levels across disciplines.
  • Comfortable working autonomously in a “greenfield” environment.
  • Ability and willingness to operate as both a strategist and a hands‑on practitioner.
Preferred requirements
  • Experience of working in a professional services environment.
  • Experience operating globally with stakeholders located across multiple geographies.
  • Experienced in leading procurement transformation initiatives, transitioning from manual operations to automated systems/workflows.
  • Track record of building and developing teams.
