Overview

Title: Private Sector Housing Team Leader Contractor (Damp and Mould)
Location: West London
Contract: Initial 6 month ongoing contract
Salary: £45.22 p/hr umbrella
Hours: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm - 3 days out on district 2 days working from home.

Responsibilities
  • Improve the housing, health, safety and living conditions in the private rented and owner- occupied sector; through advice, regulation, enforcement; and by leading on key projects, to support the Council’s manifesto commitments, as appropriate.
  • Deliver a responsive service that meets the needs of residents and supports landlords to comply with their legal duties when renting out residential properties in the borough and to deliver team/corporate tasks and workstreams, as required.
  • Maintain a resilient team; from different locations; at different times of the day/week, managing up to 4 staff members and a budget of between £150K - £300K. Supporting the council to be recognized as a great place to work and for career development.
  • To lead investigations into complaints of poor private sector housing conditions and provide technical & directed advice to resolve matters. Where possible and appropriate, to work cooperatively with landlords to ensure required standards are met and housing conditions improved where required.
  • To lead investigations into reports of poor housing conditions in HMOs and monitor compliance with the council’s adopted housing standards & against national legislation (HHSRS & Housing Management Regulations) and take enforcement action as required.
  • To supervise property surveys and inspections of complex buildings, make assessments under the Housing Health & Safety Rating System and prepare schedules of work where necessary.
