Responsibilities
  • Collect the deceased from their place of death or containment and bring them into the Company's care in a manner that affords the deceased both respect and dignity, in line with the Company's processes and procedures and prevailing best practice.
  • Transport the deceased as instructed to doctors, crematoriums or other venues as applicable.
  • Act as a brand ambassador for the Company, ensuring all activity undertaken reflects the company in a positive way and delivers exemplary customer service. Be available and present as directed by the Operations Manager or their delegated authority.
  • Be aware of legal requirements at the point of death and the Company's procedures and processes that would be applicable, and communicate any variance to the duty phone if you believe the tasks allocated are non‑compliant.
  • Remove the deceased as instructed from hospitals, hospices, nursing homes and private homes.
  • Verify the deceased's identity before conducting the removal.
  • Ensure the removal is conducted with the utmost respect and dignity for the deceased and others present, ensuring that the correct equipment is used for the task.
  • Transport the deceased as instructed to doctors, crematoria or other locations as tasked.
  • Keep detailed records of the progress of each task and/or stages via the QR codes and record activity using the Body Tracking Application.
  • Feed back to management immediately any observations around changes of hospital timings, access, unordinary requests and 3rd‑party practices which are likely to cause company inefficiency or damage.
  • Book the deceased into the mortuary.
  • Remove jewellery, medical devices, materials unsuitable for cremation and verify both visually and via metal detector.
  • Encoffin the deceased and identify as applicable.
  • Return ashes as tasked.
  • Be compliant in all tasks with the Company's processes and procedures.
  • Keep your allocated vehicle presentable at all times and ensure faults are reported, and routine maintenance is booked as necessary. Ensure that your vehicle is road‑worthy before commencing your journey.
  • Ensure that your vehicle is properly equipped for your tasks, and any likely additional tasks that may be allocated post‑commencement of your duties, before commencement of your journey and that you are knowledgeable about the operation of all equipment before using it.
  • Drive within the law and be courteous to other road users to reflect the Company in a positive way.
  • Undertake any other reasonable task as may be directed by management.
  • Work within your capability and consider your own health and safety and that of those around you before executing your tasks.
  • Adhere to the current company policy regarding data protection.
  • Appearance – be smart and well presented in the provided uniform at all times, ensuring that your vehicle is presented in a similar manner.
  • Communication – have excellent listening and communication skills to be able to answer customer questions, extract appropriate information and deliver outstanding customer care; especially aware that some customers may be vulnerable.
  • Risk assessment – conduct risk assessments before completing tasks to ensure they are conducted in a safe and compliant manner.
  • Accuracy – record information accurately and ensure all processes and procedures are adhered to in a methodical and compliant way.
  • IT skills – become expert in the use of the Body Tracking Application and ensure 100 % compliance with its utilisation.
  • Customer champion – act in a manner that ensures the customer receives a positive experience of the Company and works in accordance with detailed procedures.
