Principal Quality Project Engineer

You will be responsible for driving and coordinating fab-based quality improvement initiatives. The role is primarily concerned with reducing fab-based quality incidents and complaints levels by initiating and driving continuous quality improvement activities across the manufacturing technology areas.

Responsibilities
  • Customer and assembly complaint handling, liaison with product quality engineers, execution and co-ordination of containment, corrective and continuous improvement.
  • Support of audits, process FMEA’s, quality 8D reports and 3 x 5Y analysis.
  • Actively participate and drive the Serious Incident Reduction initiative.
  • Carry out analysis required to identify opportunities for quality improvements; initiate, co-ordinate and drive cross functional teams to improve quality and eliminate quality incidents.
  • Deputise where necessary for the Technology Section Leader, support and assist the Section Leader with the management and leadership of the Group.
  • Where appropriate, become involved in the introduction of new process technologies to ensure appropriate methodology and manufacturability is provided to meet quality requirements.
  • To ensure the integrity and content of manufacturing instructions and control plans with respect to product quality requirements, and make appropriate changes as necessary for ongoing improvements.
  • Ensure effective communication of ongoing quality issues and associated improvement activities within the Group, and where necessary with Groups external to the department.
  • Support the development and training of the Process Engineering and Engineering Assistants within the Group.
  • The role requires continual awareness of quality performance and quality issues from the wafer fab, and effective coordination and support of quality related issues and incidents. This includes responsibility for carrying out root cause analysis and identifying and driving engineering activities to ensure effective containment and corrective actions are implemented promptly.
  • Corrective actions and projects arising from 8D reports / 3x5Y’s / SIRI initiatives also have to be maintained and completed to defined timescales. These will often involve coordinating Engineers across the different technology Groups.
Qualifications

The successful candidate will be degree qualified or equivalent and have a proven track record in the entire semiconductor manufacturing process covering the fabrication of MOS devices and their electrical wafer testing. You should also have an understanding of the working principles of semiconductor devices and the relationship between electrical characteristics and wafer fab process variables.
