Job summary

Mott MacDonald is recruiting a Mechanical Discipline Lead within the Water Utilities Division to steer technical direction and quality of deliverables for a major UK water framework. You will collaborate with the client and other discipline leads, managing technical problem solving and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.

The role requires Chartered status, proven leadership of technical projects, and experience in infra/non‑infra mechanical design with regular travel to client sites.

Qualifications

• Chartered status with a recognised professional institution.
• Proven ability to lead a portfolio of technical projects delivering quality outcomes.
• Demonstrable mechanical design experience in infra and non‑infra sectors.
• Strong communication skills across internal teams and clients.
• Good understanding of designers’ responsibilities under CDM and ability to travel for meetings.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for technical quality of deliverables within discipline.
• Challenge client technical standards and manage waivers/deviations.
• Discipline to act as Designer under CDM responsibilities.
• Coordinate Mechanical resources across the framework with design managers/tech leads.
• Develop relationships and maintain regular communication with client technical stakeholders.
