Job summary

Mott MacDonald’s Water Utilities Division is seeking a Mechanical Discipline Lead to steer technical direction within AMP8 delivery. You will own the quality of mechanical deliverables, manage engineers/consultants, and collaborate with client teams to resolve technical issues and blockers.

You will drive innovations, support the framework, and help develop the next generation of talent while travelling to client sites as required.

Qualifications

• Chartered Status (CEng) with a recognised Professional Institution.
• Proven ability to lead a portfolio of technical projects, ensuring compliance with quality assurance and standards and developing staff.
• Demonstrable technical experience in infra and non‑infra mechanical design.
• Strong communication skills with collaboration across internal multi-disciplinary teams.
• Drive to stay current with professional development and emerging technical solutions.
• Good understanding of designers’ responsibilities under CDM.
• Flexibility to travel regularly for client meetings.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for technical quality of deliverables and staff competency.
• Challenge client technical standards and waivers relevant to the discipline.
• Ensure discipline discharges its duties as a Designer under CDM.
• Coordinate mechanical resources across the framework with design managers and leads.
• Develop relationships with client technical stakeholders and maintain regular communication.
